...glitching, this is Fisk's blog.

When I am not lost in the magic…

This is Saturday Comes Slow by Massive Attack. Just another great song from their album Heligoland. It reminds me of Radiohead, a lot.

When I am not turning…

Here is a fantastic and not-so-well-known Red Hot Chili Peppers song. This is Turn it Again from the album Stadium Arcadium.

When I am not at the limit…

This fantastic little ditty is by Canadian artist Feist. The song is called The Limit To Your Love and it is on her album The Reminder.

When I am not winning…

One last edition to hard week. (though I promise there will be more hard music to follow.) This song, Robots 3 Humans 0 is from my favourite Norma Jean album, The Anti Mother. Do yourself, and the band, a huge favour by buying it.

When I am not a captive of the destroyer…

Project 86 is one of my favourite metal bands of all time. Their consistent lyrical depth and riff-driven heaviness never disappoints. I certainly wouldn’t finish hard week without them. Look out for their new album, Wait for the Siren, coming out later this year.

The song is Destroyer from the album Picket Fence Cartel

When I am not able to rewind…

When Aaron Gillespie left Underoath there were a lot of doubts in my mind whether they would still be able to function as a band. I was worried that they would not have both quality singing and screaming. However, Spencer Chamberlain has stepped up in a big way. I don’t think anyone can replace Aaron, they’ve had to adapt and shift as a band, but they are still producing fantastic music as this song (In Division) proves.

When I am not dead…

On Monday, I was talking with some friends about this ‘screamo’ song that begins with “Let the dead bury their own dead”, a reference to Luke 9:60 in the Holy Bible.

Hard week would not be a complete without a mention of one of the most versatile and talented hard bands. As Cities Burn are kind of on hiatus but their fantastic music is still out there for all to hear. This is Wake Dead Man, Wake from the album Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest.

When I am not what I have become…

This is Hundredth covering Nine Inch Nails. The song is called Hurt. You may be more familiar with the cover Johnny Cash recorded shortly before his death in 2003. This can be found on Hundredth’s album Let Go.

Friends from Tyndale recommended Hundredth to me. I’m definitely going to have to check out more of their music.

When I am not the one who needs this right now…

This song by Emery is appropriate for a couple of friends of mine that are going through a tough time right now. My thoughts are with you and your families.

When I am not at the end of my road…

Whenever I ask about good hard bands Oh, Sleeper is always at the top of the list. This song proves why. I definitely need to get some of their albums.

Text

So this week I am going to change things up and post just hard music on this blog. Metal, hardcore, screamo, metalcore, progressive, basically any genre that could be classified as “loud” or “hard” music. Be prepared to feel your bones vibrate and your organs liquify. And, if you dare, turn it up to 11.

When I am not serene…

This is Opening, composed by Philip Glass, who is the best living classical composer that I know of. Please let me know if you know of some better living classical composers because I’m always in search of great music.
